I remember when I started back in my corporate days - all the goals I set for myself. Between building a career, managing a team and starting a family I felt the urge to be Superwoman. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking. I remember getting up early in the morning so I could get my work done and get home to spend quality time with my boys. Now in between that start and end to the workday I was full steam ahead, proving that I could do (and have) it all.

I always hear people talk about what they would do with the million/multi-million dollars if they had it, but they talk as if it’s a pipe dream. Rarely do I hear how they will go about getting it or what’s stopping them from breaking through that glass ceiling. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb and say people that talk publicly about their cash or investments are just like those who post “the perfect lives” on social media. Do you ever get the feeling that perhaps everyone is a little afraid of cash? Perhaps it’s the lack of having it that’s the problem or maybe it’s the comparative environment it creates. There is something about it that makes it such a sensitive topic.

Is there such a thing as hiring too early? Just this past week I have had two business owners tell me their business started to grow so they hired more people and then found out they hired too early and had to scale back. How do you know when the right time is to hire new employees? A hint - it’s not necessarily when your revenue grows or you get a couple new clients that put you over the edge.

It’s very frequent for someone to look for that one diet to help them lose weight or the best cream to get rid of those wrinkles, but when you think about it there’s usually more than one thing which needs to be done to accomplish your goal. You need to find a balance of options to truly make things work, right? More often than not, e.g. to lose weight you not only need a diet, but exercise. The same is true with your business. Many people are searching for that shiny penny. In fact I have found many business owners spend thousands of dollars a year on programs that are going to make them rich or take away the pain, only to find out it didn’t work. There really are many reasons of why programs may or may not work, but in truth part of it is that your business doesn’t typically have only one issue to be solved.
